Laminated or not?
- Standard iPad line (the “just iPad” models): the touch glass is a separate layer above the LCD. Crack the glass while the picture stays perfect, and only the glass needs replacing — the budget-friendly outcome.
- iPad Air, Mini and Pro: glass and display are fused into one laminated panel for a thinner, nicer screen. Beautiful to use; single-unit to replace. Any crack means the full assembly.

What else moves the price
- Model and size. A 12.9″ iPad Pro panel is a premium part; an iPad 9th-gen glass is not.
- Frame condition. iPad bodies bend at the corners in drops. Fitting new glass to a bent frame guarantees a re-crack, so straightening comes first — we check this before quoting, not after.
- Touch ID transfer. On home-button models, your original button must be carefully transferred (it’s paired to your iPad). Standard practice here; worth confirming wherever you go.
- What the drop also broke. Occasionally a cracked screen travels with a damaged camera or a battery issue — found at diagnosis, priced before you commit.
