What Could Be Wrong

Drop or impact damage

The most common cause. Even a short fall onto a corner can crack the panel or break the digitiser underneath while the glass still looks intact.

Pressure damage

Sitting on the phone or carrying it in a tight pocket can crack the panel from behind, producing black blotches or bleeding colour with no visible glass crack.

A previous repair that went wrong

A poorly fitted third-party display, a pinched flex cable or a missing screw can cause ghost touch, flicker or dead zones weeks later.

Panel or connector failure

Vertical green or pink lines and flicker often mean the panel itself or its board connector has failed, sometimes with no drop at all.

What We Check

Before any quote, and before anything is opened up:

• Confirm whether the fault is the display assembly or something on the logic board
• Test touch accuracy across the entire panel, not just the cracked area
• Check the display connectors and their board sockets for damage
• Verify Face ID / Touch ID hardware is intact before quoting
• Check the frame for bends that would stop a new display seating flat
• Look for water ingress under the panel, which changes the repair entirely

How We Handle It

Modern iPhone displays are laminated assemblies — the glass, touch layer and OLED or LCD panel are bonded together. Once the glass cracks, dust and moisture start reaching the layers underneath, which is why a "small crack" often grows into touch failure or display bleed within weeks. Replacing the display early usually protects the rest of the phone.

At iFix Guwahati we start with a proper diagnosis: we confirm whether the damage is limited to the display assembly or has affected connectors, the frame or the logic board. You get a written quote before we open the phone. Screen replacements for common models are often completed the same day, depending on parts availability for your exact model.

After fitting the new display we run a full function test — touch accuracy across the whole panel, brightness range, colour, Face ID or Touch ID, proximity sensor and call speaker — before the phone is returned to you.

Your Repair Options

Full display assembly replacement

The standard repair. The complete bonded assembly is replaced and your original Face ID / Touch ID components are transferred across so those features keep working.

Board-level repair first

If the fault is a damaged display connector or a broken track on the board, a new screen alone will not fix it. That is board work, handled at our microsoldering bench.

Repair declined

If the frame is badly bent or the damage runs deeper than the display, we will tell you plainly rather than fit a screen that will fail.
