What Could Be Wrong

Clean water

Rain, a sink or a spilled glass. The best case, but still conductive enough to short circuits and start corrosion within hours.

Salt or sugary liquids

Tea, soft drinks and seawater are far more aggressive. They leave residue that keeps conducting and corroding long after the liquid dries.

Monsoon humidity

Water resistance that has aged

Seals degrade over time and after any repair. An older iPhone is not as water-resistant as it was when new.

How We Handle It

What kills a wet iPhone is usually not the water itself but what happens next: current flowing through wet circuits, and corrosion eating copper traces over the following days. That’s why the two most important steps happen before you reach us — switch the phone off (and leave it off), and don’t charge it. Skip the rice myth; it does almost nothing for the inside of a sealed phone.

On our bench, liquid-damaged iPhones are opened immediately, the battery is disconnected, and the logic board goes through ultrasonic cleaning to remove mineral deposits and corrosion. We then inspect the board under magnification and test rail by rail, repairing or replacing damaged components. Water resistance seals are replaced where applicable during reassembly.

An honest note: liquid damage is the least predictable repair category. We’ve revived phones that sat in water overnight, and seen brief splashes destroy boards. If corrosion has eaten tracks or killed specific chips, that is microsoldering work at our bench. Realistic for many phones, but not all.

When a phone is beyond economic repair, the priority shifts to getting your photos and data off it where that is possible.

An honest no

Some water-damaged phones cannot be saved. We would rather tell you that than take your money for a repair unlikely to hold.
