How We Handle It

What kills a wet iPhone is usually not the water itself but what happens next: current flowing through wet circuits, and corrosion eating copper traces over the following days. That’s why the two most important steps happen before you reach us — switch the phone off (and leave it off), and don’t charge it. Skip the rice myth; it does almost nothing for the inside of a sealed phone.

On our bench, liquid-damaged iPhones are opened immediately, the battery is disconnected, and the logic board goes through ultrasonic cleaning to remove mineral deposits and corrosion. We then inspect the board under magnification and test rail by rail, repairing or replacing damaged components. Water resistance seals are replaced where applicable during reassembly.

An honest note: liquid damage is the least predictable repair category. We’ve revived phones that sat in water overnight, and seen brief splashes destroy boards.
