What Could Be Wrong

Impact or pressure damage

A drop, or something left on the keyboard when the lid was closed, cracks the panel or leaves permanent pressure marks.

Backlight circuit failure

The panel is fine but the backlight has failed — typically a board-level fault, often after liquid exposure.

Display flex wear

On some models the flex wears where it bends at the hinge, producing a stage-light effect or flicker at certain lid angles.

Liquid damage

Liquid reaching the display connector or backlight circuit causes flicker, dimming or total loss of image.

What We Check

Before any quote, and before anything is opened up:

• Shine a torch on the screen to distinguish a backlight fault from a dead panel
• Connect an external display to confirm whether the graphics side is healthy
• Inspect the display flex and its board connector
• Measure the backlight circuit on the logic board
• Check for liquid ingress around the hinge and connector

How We Handle It

MacBook displays fail in more ways than phone screens: a drop cracks the panel, a worn flex cable causes the backlight to cut out at certain angles, a spilled drink kills the backlight circuit while the image survives. Each has a different — and differently priced — fix, which is why we diagnose before quoting rather than defaulting to the most expensive option.

If the image is intact but the screen stays dark, the fault is often the backlight circuit on the logic board rather than the panel itself. That’s a component-level repair, considerably cheaper than a new display assembly, and one many shops miss. Our board-level capability means you pay for the actual fault.

We handle both older Intel MacBooks and current Apple Silicon models. After any display work we test brightness range, colour uniformity, the camera (it lives in the display), Wi-Fi antennas (routed through the hinge on many models) and lid-angle stability.
