The storage decision costs more than the model decision
Almost everyone agonises over which iPhone to buy and then picks the storage in ten seconds. It should be the other way round.
On the iPhone 18 Pro, moving from 256GB to 2TB costs ₹1,50,000. That is more than the entire price of an iPhone 17. And it buys you something you can get in the cloud for a fraction of the cost — in many cases for nothing, because a great many mobile plans in India already include cloud storage that people never claim.
Photos and videos are what fill a phone. Almost nobody has 5TB of apps. Put those in the cloud, buy the base storage, and keep the difference.

iPhone 18 Pro
6.3-inch Super Retina XDR
The newest model, on sale since 18 September 2026. There is no standard iPhone 18 — the line starts at the Pro. Still under Apple warranty, so a fault that appeared on its own should go to Apple first.

Which one would we tell a friend to buy?
Most people: the iPhone 17, ₹99,900. Current generation, 256GB as standard, and it will be supported by iOS for years.
If the camera matters to you: the iPhone 17 Pro, ₹1,34,900. Three 48MP cameras for ₹30,000 less than this year's model. This is the value pick of the whole line-up.
If you want the newest thing: the iPhone 18 Pro, ₹1,64,900. A genuine reason to buy, and nobody needs to justify wanting it.
On a budget: the iPhone 16, ₹89,900 — but note it is 128GB only, which fills fast if you shoot video.
And whichever you choose: buy the base storage unless you have a specific professional reason not to.

Which iPhone is the best value in India right now?
For most people the iPhone 17 Pro, at ₹1,34,900, or the standard iPhone 17 at ₹99,900. Both give you a current-generation camera and chip without the premium Apple charges for the newest model. The iPhone 18 Pro is worth the extra only if you specifically want this year’s camera changes.
Which storage size should I buy?
For most people, the base 256GB. Photos and videos are what fill a phone, and those belong in the cloud where storage is far cheaper. On the iPhone 18 Pro, going from 256GB to 2TB costs ₹1,50,000 — many times what the same storage costs in the cloud, and more than a MacBook.
